Hey everyone! After battling
with Lightroom for the past 2 nights (and losing most of those battles) I finally have some photos to share
. To the uninitiated, I rented a big lens for this, which I shared earlier.
The planes in this set is a RC AF CF-18 and then the USAF Thunderbird
s, followed by the RCAF Snowbirds. Impressive displays by both groups, with the Thunderbird’s literally bringing the thunder, and the snowbirds showing some seriously impressive precision and finesse.
Anyway, enjoy
the shots!

Awesome shots. It's amazing to see that much detail captured at a distance with them moving as well..

Yeah you end up spinning around pretty fast, especially with the jets. I may have hit my wife with the lens a couple times...

Great shots! Did you wind up using the 2x extender on either of the lenses? What did you think of the 300mm?

Yeah I actually used the 600mm setup for most of the day, I only swapped it off at the end of the thunderbirds and for all of the snow birds, just a bit too tight for formation flying. It was a great lens, super fast AF, even with the TC (being a version 3 helped). I think overall a 180-400F4 with the built in TC would be the perfect airshow lens, sometimes 300 was too tight, especially for the big planes , but 600 was perfect for smaller crafts or for cockpit shots. Having the built in TV for quick changing would have been perfect, as dismounting the TC and remounting the lens is a bit time consuming and fiddly.
